We all want clear, vibrant, glowing skin in 2025. But, did you know your neck can play a huge supporting role for this? It connects vital blood vessels, lymph nodes, and muscles that impact not only your neck but also your face. Ignoring it can leave your skincare routine incomplete. Enter neck exercises: these simple moves can improve circulation, boost oxygen flow, and keep your skin firm and youthful. As a trained Physical Therapist, movement is one of the many areas of expertise I have, and I’m here to share the deets on how to add movement to your skincare routine!
Here are four exercises to give both your neck and face a healthy glow:
Tuck & Tilt
Tuck your chin in and tilt your head back. Hold position for 3-5 seconds, then relax. Repeat 10 times.
Why It Works - By stretching and engaging your neck muscles, this move stimulates circulation to the jawline and lower face, delivering oxygen and nutrients to the skin. This helps promote collagen production and that dewy, plumpy --in a good way-- look.
Side Stretch
Gently tilt your head to one side, bringing your ear toward your shoulder. Hold for 10 seconds, then switch sides. Add a slight forward tilt to hit the back of your neck.
Why It Works - This stretch improves blood flow to the neck and chin area, helping to flush out toxins and reduce puffiness in the face. Better circulation means brighter, healthier skin overall.
Jaw Sculpt
Sit upright and press your tongue to the roof of your mouth. Slowly open and close your jaw while keeping the tongue in place. Repeat for 10 reps.
Why It Works - Activating your jawline muscles increases circulation to the lower face and chin. It also tones sagging skin, which can sharpen your facial contours and help reduce the appearance of a double chin.
Chin Lifts with Resistance
Place your hands lightly under your chin. Gently press your head into your hands while resisting the motion. Hold for 5 seconds and repeat 10 times.
Why It Works - This strengthens the neck and jawline muscles while increasing blood and lymph flow. This gives a firmer, lifted look that reduces sagging in the neck and tightens skin on the face.
How does this help the skin on your face?
The neck is a highway for blood and lymphatic circulation, which is crucial for radiant skin. These exercises improve oxygen delivery to facial skin cells, flush away toxins, and reduce puffiness. And toning neck muscles helps prevent sagging skin from pulling down your face, keeping everything smooth and youthful.
PRO TIP - Don’t stop at just exercise… pair these moves with a neck-friendly serum or moisturizer to lock in hydration and boost your results. Ask Savannah which would work best for your routine!!
So next time you’re working on that glow, remember: healthy skin doesn’t stop at your jawline. Your neck deserves the same love—and it’ll return the favor by making your face look radiant, too!
Love, Dr. Alison
