How This B12 Supplement Changed My Life (Literally)

Last Fall was, unfortunately, not all magical weather and a renewed love for life for me; I was going through it. I had just gotten on birth control, Ozempic, and had just stopped breastfeeding. My husband was also in and out of town very frequently for work, so my stress was higher than normal. To say my hormones were all over the place would be the understatement of the year. I was perpetually tired, and frankly, out of patience. Even doing something fun, like meeting my friends out to have a drink and let the kids play, felt like too much. At one point, I could hardly hold a conversation without zoning out. I wanted to fix the problem, but I had just introduced so many things to my system that I didn’t know where to start. I saw my OBGYN, and she said it wasn’t necessary to run tests, that I just needed to be patient with myself so soon after my baby. (It had been 8 months, so still recent, but not super recent, for context.)

I posted about this issue on my Instagram stories, as one does, and a friend recommended I start taking B12. At first I wasn’t convinced, because I pounded energy drinks stacked with B vitamins every single day- how could I possibly be low? But I was desperate, so I gave it a try. I chose the Vitamin B12 as Methylcobalamin from Thorne. I didn’t even know what “methylcobalamin” meant, but I knew Thorne was legit, so I went for it.

The results were immediate. I instantly felt better. I took one in the morning, and one in the early afternoon. I felt like the fog had finally faded, and I could see the sun again. I was able to be more present for my friends, more patient with my kids, and more productive at work. It was literally life changing. If you know me personally, you probably already know this story because I essentially shout it from the rooftops.

Since I’m an esthetician, I feel compelled to include a caveat- B Vitamins can trigger acne breakouts. If you’re in the process of trying to manage your acne, it is not recommended to take B vitamins as supplements (or energy drinks!)

After weaning off the Ozempic, I did my consultation with Alison. Giving my body what it needs through food was another game changer that significantly improved my quality of life. Food should ALWAYS be first priority, supplements second. I just did it a little backwards because I didn’t know better at the time.
