Struggling with persistent acne is a tricky process for many reasons- one being the fact that everything applied to the face must be deemed acne-safe to avoid breakouts. Perioral breakouts, which includes clogged pores, pimples, dry skin and other irritations around the mouth, are really common for those who are prone to acne. Sneaky triggers are toothpaste, lip balm, lip liner, and lipstick.

Lip liners are especially tricky because SO MANY of the popular brands of lip liners has at least one pore clogging ingredient in their formulation. Even if you're not acne prone, its super common for the lip liner to cause texture around the lip line.
If this happens to bother you, then keep reading to lookout for the ones you should avoid.
MAC Cosmetics Lip Pencil - Not going to lie, this one hurt. I absolutely LOVE their lip liners. The colors in the formula are both perfection. But if you're prone to breakouts and blackheads around your mouth, I would avoid.

NYX Retractable Lip Liner - Another blow to my personal collection, this was my second favorite to grab in a quick trip to Ulta.

Charlotte Tilbury Lip Cheat Liner

Anastasia Beverly Hills Long Lasting Velvety-Matte Lip Liner

I want to be super clear- this is NOT a bad review of these lip liners! Most people will be able to use these with no issues at all. However, if you're noticing clogged pores around your mouth or you're prone to breakouts, I don't recommend having any of these in your routine, as they could make the condition worse.
